2 Elephant poems

Elephant

Great mud beast cracked baked
Tusk trooping trunk trailing tank
Creased worried gentle.

The Elephant

The elephant is often blue
Sadly he will often brood
On all the carnage that he caused
Just by walking back and forth
His memory for which he’s famed
Fills him with appalling shame
For all who’s end he brought to close
And swiftly vacuumed with his nose.

amazing pic... What do you use here? water colours or oils?

re to ur comment: i bot a hell of lot of things. mostly clohtes coz i can actually find clohtes MY size here in jkt (im incredibly... petite (to put it nicely!lol)) ... electronics too coz theyre cheaper here in jkt... and thngs for my friends back ... and DVDs its amazingly hard to find genuine DVDs here... got tons of pirated ones and theyre like super cheap here. I must have like 50 plus movies now! :)
Mostly, coz we're leaving, EVERYONE is inviting us to lunch n dinner. Its terrrrribly boring for me coz i have be 'nice' and endure all talk of 'oh ok.. she's 23... so this is the right age for marriage no? Are your parents looking for a boy? You know at your age i already had 2 kids' blah blah blah.

Hi Aisha, thanks

The elephants are drawn in pastel, it's what I use most.
that sonds like hard work, a relative of mine was always telling me to have kids she drove me mad when I was young, needless to say since I had them she can't be bothered to visit, unlike all the people who didn't insist I had them. People are funny

i just loved the painting, the baby is so adorable and so vulnerable too....the leg of the mama elephant was a wonderful idea, lending security and refuge.
the poem is fantastic too...elephants are such amazing animals and they carry this look of sadness in their eyes but an agry elephant can kill too.

Blogger Sue hardy-Dawson said...

Thanks Gulnaz, yes they are amazing beasts, gentle yet capable of killing you even by accident

Hi- I've been slowly working my way through a wealth of poetry and writing blogs I've happily discovred in the past few months. I've seen your comments on the others' blogs, but time is finite!

I like that you write for kids, too. Nice light poems about such large animals.

I'm a visual artist, too :) (several mediums such as painting, paste, photography, collage, and jewelry design). I particularly like the way you captured the folds on the elephants' skin. I can feel them through my eyes. :)

Enjoyed. I'll be back.

Hi Sue,
I made a typo in my comment above and meant that I paint in "Pastel" not paste lol! Yes, I post my artwork, but currently there are only a few photographs on my site because I'm in the midst of redesigning my blogs, trying to combine them or link them better.

I'll let you know when my paintings are posted again. Currently, I'm very busy preparing for several holiday art shows, so blog website redesign is on hold. My professional website is not linked yet... I understand about holding onto a favorite painting. I adore the zoo and animals.

I wrote a post called "In Tree-ging" and posted a favorite pastel of mine. That painting had metaphorically glued itself to my wall :). I only will part with prints of it.
